Shelbi Heady is a professional horsewoman with a lifetime of working with the industries best. She has competed nationally alongside many of the most accomplished riders in the history of the sport. Shelbi has been a professional since 2007 and is currently in pursuit of her 'r' judges card under the guidance of 'R' Judge Carol Maloney, in both Hunter and Hunter/Jumping Seat Equitation.
She attended Pace University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management to augment her extensive hands-on experience. Shelbi began riding at 5 years old where she learned the importance of good horsemanship. As her career progressed, she rode younger, inexperienced horses, and prepared them for the show ring. Riding a variety of horses, under many different trainers, gave her the ability to work successfully with all different types of horses. This grew her talent for recognizing promising young horses, and developing them. Shelbi rode and competed under top professionals throughout her entire career. After the completion of her Junior years, she went to join JT Farm in South Salem NY as their barn manager under the guidance of professional Jimmy Toon. She has qualified for, and ribboned at every National Horse Show since the start of her junior career. In 2006 she represented Zone II for the Prix De States Junior Jumper finals, and was invited to represent Zone II at the NAJYR Championship in 2007. She was invited to ride in the High Jr Jumpers at Syracuse International Horse show in 2006 and 2007 and came home ribboned in the top 3.
Shelbi's 25+ years of experience in the saddle, and more than 11+ years’ experience teaching, have allowed her to polish her natural ability and pass that knowledge on to both horse and rider. Shelbi brings wealth of experience to WHC and is focused on good horsemanship, developing young horses and riders, and sharing her love for the sport through training and teaching.
